If you think about it, this smoothie recipe for kids has something in it from each of the food groups, but it tastes like dessert! The color is a kind of mildly unappealing tan – which you can remedy with a few drops of food coloring if you wish. If you have a powerful blender then this smoothie will not be a challenge, but if you don’t (I don’t either) I would suggest adding the ingredients one at a time, starting with the juice and peeling the skin off of the apples. Here is how I made this smoothie: Add apple juice and apples to blender and blend until smooth. Add protein powder and blend. Scrape down the sides and then add the frozen carrots. Blend until smooth. Add yogurt and uncooked oatmeal and resume blending until smooth.
